Welcome to Now Wants Then, a feature that asks current bands four simple questions about their reunion fantasies.

ÆGES is a Los Angeles based rock band consisting of Kemble Walters (The Rise, Juliette and the Licks), Tony Baumeister (16, Cutthroats 9), Mike Land (Unwritten Law) and Cory Clark (Sleepless Me).  Though the musical backgrounds of each member are somewhat divergent, the band was formed out of a common love of heavy melodic rock and influenced by bands like Quicksand, Soundgarden, Queens of the Stone Age, among many others.

aeges 2014 albumAEGES’ second full length album, Above & Down Below, sees them galloping confidently over any notion of a sophomore slump. The band has taken another step forward with this collection of twelve songs that are as diverse and individual as they are seamless and flowing.  They’ve effortlessly endured a couple different line-up changes that introduced guitarist/vocalist Cory Clark and drummer Mike Land. The revamped line-up, rounded out by founding member Kemble Walters (vocals/guitar) and Tony Baumeister (bass), was solidified in late 2013 when they began writing the songs that would become Above & Down Below.

Tony Baumeister – Bass

Best reunion show you’ve ever been to?

Van Halen at Staples Center Los Angeles, 2007.  i’ve seen other reunion tours (the Police, Black Sabbath), and VH wins by a mile.  although i would have preferred to see Michael Anthony on bass instead of Wolfie.  He just didn’t look cool, and it was distracting me a bit.  I think he was wearing sunglasses, and even that didn’t help.  I don’t wanna be too harsh, because he was just a teenager, but it was kind of annoying.  I guess i’d say his actual bass playing was good.  I’ll give him that.  Whatever, i’m getting sidetracked here.  Apart from that one detail, the show was AWESOME.

Who would you love to see reunited?

My obvious choice would be Led Zeppelin, but then i’d run into the same nonsense involving “the offspring of a band member filling in and not looking cool.”  ugh – so lame.  Anyway, it’s a moot point because Plant will never do it.  Never.

Who would you love to interview?

Howard Stern

Who would you love to see make a full comeback?

Faith No More would have been my choice here, but it looks like that’s happening next year!  to say i was excited would be an understatement.  For my “hopeful” choice, i’ll go with Seaweed, or The Jesus Lizard.  or both.

Cory Clark – Guitar / Vocals

Best reunion show you’ve ever been to?

Still waitin for the next Van Haggar reunion.

Who would you love to see reunited?

Megadeth with Marty Friedman. The Lennon and Harrison of metal.

Who would you love to interview?

Ted Nugent. I’d just let him interview himself.

Or Ryan Adams. I’d ask him about his inspiration behind “Summer of 69” (kidding. I’m a Ryan Adams fan)

Who would you love to see make a full comeback?

The Cardigans. Hands down.

Mike Land – Drums

Best reunion show you’ve ever been to?

The Eagles… I saw them at the American Airlines Center in Texas, and it was a great show! That band is on-point with their vocal harmonies.

Who would you love to see reunited?

I would love to see John Frusciante play with The Red Hot Chili Peppers again. He’s probably my favorite guitarist ever… He’s a master of simplicity (Californication), and also a master of complexity (Stadium Arcadium). There aren’t many musicians in the world who can play both sides of that field.

Who would you love to interview?

Tom Waits….That guy is crazy, and hilarious!!

Who would you love to see make a full comeback?

Rage Against The Machine

Kemble Walters – Vocals / Guitar

Best reunion show you’ve ever been to?

Refused

Who would you love to see reunited?

The Catherine Wheel

Who would you love to interview?

Milo of the Descendents

Who would you love to see make a full comeback?

HANDSOME
